INTRO TO LINOLEUM CARVING

Learn the basics of relief printmaking with this 4 day linoleum-cut workshop exploring black and white print and multi-color reduction printing. Students will leave with skills to produce hand-printed cards, fine art prints, and fabric designs from the convenience of their own homes.

An introduction to linoleum (reduction printing and single block) carving, printing, and registration techniques as well as versatile applications of the medium. This course allows the student to create multiples of a graphic image from a physical block. Relief printing activates spatial understanding and is an incredible way to practice artistic precision and creativity in the carving and printing processes alike. This course focuses on designing, carving, and printing a graphic image safely with precision.

The student will walk away with precise techniques for registering multi-layer prints, an understanding and competency with relief printing as well as an understanding of safety and cleanliness in both the carving and printing processes.

Level: Any, though a knowledge of relief printmaking is helpful
