This is an intermediate class that will build storytelling techniques and photography skills for students desiring to communicate with photography. Composition and lighting techniques will be covered. By the end of this workshop, students should have completed a basic photo story/essay that could be built upon with more extensive coverage, if desired. Students will understand how to pursue a personal story/essay, develop story/theme with continuity, shoot story that allows dynamic, storytelling final product, and understand funding/publishing opportunities.

Equipment required for student to have for coursework: DSLR or SLR camera with lenses, laptop and a photo editing software (not important what kind as long as the student can perform basic cropping and adjustments). If using SLR, the student will need film and to produce 4x6 prints for proofing.

Level: Knowledge of basic camera operation and exposure, proficient in a photo editing software (such as Photoshop, Photo Mechanic or Aperture)
