Introduction to watercolor techniques: We will start out with paper stretching, color studies and brush control. We will study such useful painting skills as washes and dry brush techniques. As the class progresses, we will go from painting still lifes to landscapes to portraits. When the class is over, each student will have a complete grasp of the rudiments of watercolors and the ability to use the medium to interpret a variety of subject matters.
Continuing Watercolors: Students who have some experience with watercolor will have an opportunity to develop specific skills and improve their abilities in a number of areas. Topics covered will include drawing for watercolor, handling different textures and working with light and shadows, as well as experimenting with techniques. Students will also be able to focus on their individual needs as painters while painting a variety of subjects.
