SATURDAY OPEN METAL STUDIO
Instructor: Becky Burt
Saturday 9:00 - 5:00 pm
May 10, 2014 (ONE DAY WORKSHOPS)
This one day intensive gives students an opportunity to spend a whole day working on a single project while having the instructor available for consultation and guidance. Because this is a project-oriented intensive, students should come to class with a specific design/task in mind so that they may best utilize their time. The instructor will have studio basics such as torches, flex shaft, rolling mill, disc cutters, and stamps available, but students will be expected to furnish their own hand tools (see below).
Students should have a good understanding of the basic principles of metalsmithing, and should be able to saw, file, and pierce. Students should have the tools included in the basic toolkit from Metals I as well as the following: Dividers, Scribe, Metal ruler, and Metal cutters.
Students may work in any (or all) of the following metals: 22 or 20 ga sterling silver, 22 or 20 ga brass, 22 or 20 ga copper, Found objects, etc.
