ORGANIC HOLLOW FORMS IN METAL CLAY

Description: In this day long workshop students will learn a variety of different ways to construct hollow forms from metal clay. We'll explore using polymer forms as a doming tool to make custom shapes. We'll also construct hollow form focal beads or pendants using free form wire armatures. Discussions will also include using cork clay, paper clay and wood clay as a medium to build hollow forms. Students will also learn dry construction techniques and simple carving techniques to decorate their creations.

Materials: Student should bring their own PMC Tool Kits and either PMC+ or PMC3 (28 to 45 grams), approximately 2 packages of polymer clay scrap (any brand and color), copper or brass wire (18 or 20 gauge - at least 1 foot), wire cutters, 2 part mold compound (large size), Exacto knives with extra blades, PMC paste
